Offshore wind
Germany is Europe’s fastest‑growing market for renewable energy, driven by a rapidly rising demand for fossil free electricity and advanced energy services.
National power consumption is expected to grow by 40% by 2030 and could double by 2045, creating unprecedented opportunities for large‑scale clean energy deployment.
As one of the country’s most committed energy partners, Vattenfall aims to play a defining role in shaping Germany’s energy transition.
Offshore wind power is one of Vattenfall’s core competencies and a cornerstone of its strategy to help the world to get rid of fossil fuels.
With its steady and highly reliable generation profile across seasons and time of day, offshore wind is ideally positioned to provide large‑scale, predictable clean power to Germany’s industries and households.

Nordlicht Cluster
Vattenfall is currently developing the Nordlicht offshore wind cluster consisting of two wind farms - Nordlicht I and Nordlicht II - with Nordlicht I set to become Germany’s largest offshore wind farm.
Our spinning assets
In Germany, Vattenfall also operates the “DanTysk” and “Sandbank” offshore wind farms. More information about them as well as other Vattenfall power plants below.
